The Holy Spirit empowers us not just to serve Jesus, but to know Him intimately and live in continual union with Him.
The disciples waited in Jerusalem because Jesus first had to be glorified through His death, resurrection, and ascension. Once He was exalted, He returned and poured out His Holy Spirit and fire. Now, Jesus could be Lord of our lives. The Holy Spirit is not coming someday. He has already come and been given. Jesus has already been glorified. The question is not whether He is willing to fill us; the question is whether we are willing to receive, surrender, and yield to Him.
Before Pentecost, the Holy Spirit moved upon people at certain times. But after Jesus was glorified, His Spirit came to dwell continually within His people. That means the Christian life is not meant to be lived by human strength, religious effort, or spiritual memory. It is meant to be lived through the empowering presence of the risen Jesus within us.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is not just an emotional moment or spiritual experience. It is the evidence that Jesus is alive, exalted, and actively empowering His people. The Holy Spirit does not simply make us feel spiritual. It’s Jesus empowering us to know Him intimately—with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Eternal life is not only about heaven someday. It begins now in relationship with the Spirit of Christ, revealing Himself in us and through us. Jesus said eternal life is knowing Him. That knowing is not a one-time event; it is a daily walk of surrender, revelation, obedience, and transformation through His Spirit.
Start knowing Him now—and never stop growing in Him.
Today's Prayer
Jesus, thank You for pouring out Your Spirit and fire. Help us receive, welcome, and yield to Your presence daily. Empower us to know You more deeply, follow You more closely, and live from Your life within us. Let eternal life be active in us now through a relationship with You. In Your name, Jesus, Amen.
