Part I: Good News For Me, Good News For You
The present challenge that our nation, family and personal lives are enduring is helping us to tune into God’s Spirit and Truth
Jesus is leading us into a future that looks very different than the past several decades and it’s full of hope and promise.
Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)
Covid-19 and Jesus have nothing in common. Covid-19 and The Cross of Christ have nothing in common.
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (NIV)
Jesus wants a relationship with us more than anything!
Mark 5:1-5 (NLT)
Three things we see in our lives without God
- Isolation
Separation and isolation are not God’s plan for us.
- Imprisonment
Imprisonment is the result of our attempts to live out of our own power. It’s the evidence of self-will / iniquity at work in our thinking.
We need the Holy Spirit Empowerment to truly be FREE!
- Incompleteness
Mark 5:6-8 (NLT)
Mark 5:15 (NLT)
Three things happen to us when we sit at feet of Jesus:
- We are given renewed access.
1 John 2:26-28 (NLT)
Mark 5:15 (NLT)
- We are given renewed freedom.
Mark 5:18-20 (NLT)
- We are given renewed purpose.
Our purpose, calling, profession, being a mother, our ministry, is to “Proclaim what has been done in our lives to others!”
This is how we reveal the “Love of God” to those who God has put in our path!
We have access, freedom, and purpose because of His willingness to take our place in being isolated, imprisoned and alone.
What is Jesus saying to me about this message?
Part II: Developing Emotional Intelligence
How do we live out our faith in this present cultural shift?
1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NIV)
- God want us at peace in our complete life, spiritually, emotionally and physically.
- The emotional and psychological toll on the masses is staggering.
- Emotional stress builds in stages and most are in one of these stages presently.
We experience emotional attack in this order:
We experience shock.
- When shock is present, you experience disorientation and you can’t see correctly.
- It’s hard to see the end of something when you’re in the middle of it.
- Psalms 91:9-10
When shock isn’t dealt with:
We feel sorrow.
- We feel sorrow when we’ve lost something.
- Isaiah 53:3 (ESV)
- Jesus understands when we lose something. It’s okay that you have a healthy sorrow but it’s not okay with Jesus that we become overwhelmed by the sorrow in our hearts.
- Psalms 61:1-2 (NKJV)
- If and or when we refuse to embrace the ROCK during these challenging times in our lives, we will move quickly to the next level of disorder in our emotional makeup.
When sorrow isn’t dealt with:
We begin to struggle.
- Jeremiah: 20:18 (TEV)
- Have you ever thought while going through a stressful circumstance that your present situation must be somebody’s’ fault?
- Matthew 7:24-25 (MSG)
- Matthew 10:28( NLT)
Solid emotional health begins with these 3 Things:
- The foundation of relationships and connection. If you’re secretly not doing okay, you must: Connect with God and others every day.If you don’t get this, your house will never be built! Your emotional health will never be realized! You’ll remain in an emotional depression and mess until you do. Start every day with worship, listening and telling God what’s on your mind. He’s very interested in you and your thoughts.
- Philippians 4:8-9 (NIV)
- Ephesians 4:16 (NIV)
- The structure of purpose and aligned routine.
- Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
- Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)
- Proverbs 29:18 (NIV)
- The beautifying of trust and self-control.
- Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardship as a pathway to peace; taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that You will make all things right if I surrender to Your will; so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next. Amen. – Reinhold Niebuhr
Part III: Who Do I Belong To?
(NIV) 1 Thessalonians 5:23
(NIV) Romans 7:22-24
3 areas in our body that we should be aware
- Addiction.
- Addiction simply means, you’re doing something that you don’t want to do, and you don’t know how to stop doing it.
- (NIV) Romans 6:12-14
- Is it leading you to even greater isolation?
- What are doing alone? What we don’t want to do, we do alone.
- Do you arrange your schedule around it?
- Are you trying to keep it a secret? We stay as sick as our secrets!
- Debauchery.
- Extreme indulgence in sensuality.
- (NIV) Ephesians 5:18
- Sexual immorality
- Any sexual encounter outside of marriage
- Greek translation is: πορνεία – porneia: The heart of sexual immorality is what we “look at.”
- It’s the main cause for dysfunctional relationships.
- The average age of a child encountering this sexual immorality is eleven.
(NIV) 1 Corinthians 6:15-18 Sex is the actual act of becoming “one flesh.” (NIV) 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
3 Truths with 3 applications
- My body is the place where God dwells.
- The best way to take care of my body; God’s temple is by what I allow into it through my eye gates.
- (NIV) Matthew 6:22-23
- (NLT) Romans 8:5
- Application: Detox spiritually, emotionally and physically this next week!
