Fruit and Seed

• A vital difference between fruit and seed is that without the seeds, the fruit cannot grow into a new plant. But, without the fruit, the seed can grow into a new plant.
• Fruit: the usually edible reproductive body of a seed plant. 
• Fruit: The two main functions of fruit are to prevent the seeds from drying and to disperse the seed.
• However, we choose to eat the seed, it has nutritional value and its significance and potential is over. 

Fruits serve the following purposes:

• To keep seeds safe while they grow.
• They ripen as seeds mature, and instead of protecting them, they help disperse them.
• To keep seeds safe from herbivory / early consumption. 
• Animals transport and discard seeds when they eat fruits, which helps plants disperse seeds further.

“The seed” represents His Word communicated in various ways: 

• preaching
• writing
• acts of divine intervention. 
• A seed is what produces new life

We heard last weekend that my need for control and being in charge gets me in trouble. Jesus says clearly we can’t serve two masters, we will love one and hate the other.

Three things we can agree on that will allow Jesus His passion to connect with us: 

1.   I am not the owner / head / boss / master.
2.   I am a steward / delegate / agent / manager .
3.   Am I a good steward / delegate / agent / manager?
