Day 16: Put Jesus First l 8.17.2026

Jesus, in His flesh, loved people deeply, but He never placed His ultimate trust in people. He understood human weakness. Yet He did not become cynical, bitter, or hopeless because His confidence was rooted in the grace and faithfulness of His Father. When we place our deepest trust in people, disappointment will eventually wound us. People will fail, misunderstand, and fall short. But when our trust is anchored in Jesus first, we can love people without being controlled by offense, frustration, or unrealistic expectations.

Putting God first means His will becomes greater than our urgency. His voice becomes greater than pressure. His presence becomes greater than activity. Many people rush into doing things for God, assuming busyness equals obedience. But Jesus, in the days of His flesh, never moved from pressure. He moved from His Father’s will.

Before the disciples stepped into ministry, Jesus told them to wait for the power of the Holy Spirit. Why? Because His work must flow from His presence, not human effort. Jesus is not only interested in what we do for Him. He is interested in Himself being formed in us. His desire is that our lives reveal Him through our attitudes, character, love, surrender, and obedience.

Putting Jesus first means trusting His grace above human reliability, seeking His will above human pressure, and allowing His life to transform us from the inside out.
