Day 24: Yes—But…!” l 8.25.2026

Aug 25, 2026

Today's Scripture

Luke 9:61 (NKJV)

Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV)

Faith begins where negotiation ends and surrendered obedience trusts Jesus beyond what we can understand.

Many times, we tell Jesus, “Yes, I’ll follow You,” but underneath that yes is a hidden condition: “as long as it makes sense, feels safe, and does not cost too much.” But Jesus often leads us into places that challenge our logic, comfort, control, and self-protection. In those moments, our real trust is exposed. Most people want clarity before obedience. But faith does not wait for every detail to be visible. Faith trusts the voice of God before the outcome is fully understood.

Abraham left home without knowing the whole route. Peter stepped out of the boat before the water made sense. The disciples left everything because Jesus said, “Follow Me.” Common sense says, “Protect yourself.” Faith says, “Trust His voice.”

The issue is not that God is untrustworthy. The issue is that fear keeps us clinging to control. We can come right up to obedience again and again but still pull back when surrender requires risk. Real spiritual growth happens when we stop negotiating with Jesus and start yielding to His Spirit. What first feels like stepping into the unknown becomes the discovery that His voice is more solid than our understanding.

When Jesus opens the door to obedience, do not answer with, “Yes, but…” Answer with surrendered trust.

Today's Prayer

Jesus, forgive us for every conditional yes. Deliver us from the spirits of fear, control, and self-preservation. Teach us to trust Your voice more than our understanding. Give us courage to obey when the outcome is not clear and lead us by Your Spirit into full surrender. In Your name, Jesus, Amen.

Today's Activation

Today, ask the Holy Spirit, “Where have I been saying, ‘Yes, but’?” Then take the Spirit-led and empowered step of obedience without negotiating the cost.
