What human effort cannot fix, God’s Spirit can resurrect through His mercy, power, and grace.
Can God really change a broken person? Can someone trapped in sin, addiction, pride, fear, anger, or hopelessness actually become new? The answer is not, “Yes, if they just try harder.” The honest answer is, “God, only You know.”
When Ezekiel stood before a valley of dry bones, God asked him, “Can these bones live?” Ezekiel did not pretend to have power he did not possess. He answered with surrender, “O Lord God, You know.” That is where real faith begins.
Transformation is not produced by human striving. More discipline, more activity, and more religious routine cannot raise what is spiritually dead. Only God can breathe life where there is no life. Sometimes we stay busy doing things for God because it feels easier than trusting Him to do the impossible in us. But activity is not the same as dependence. Movement is not always faith.
One sign that we have forgotten God’s transforming grace is when we lose hope for others. When we remember how much God has rescued, forgiven, and changed us, it becomes harder to give up on anyone else. The Holy Spirit reveals our need for grace—not to shame us, but to humble us. Every good thing in us is the result of His mercy and His Spirit at work.
The miracle of the Gospel is this – God brings dead things back to life.
Today's Prayer
Jesus, remind us that You alone can bring life where there is death. Deliver us from striving, hopelessness, and judging others by what we see. Teach us to depend on Your Spirit and trust Your power to transform hearts, including ours. In Your name, Jesus, Amen.
