The Missing Peace

The Missing Peace

Date: 16 June  2024

Speaker: Sean Cleary

Many Church leaders say that Logos, the Greek word translated into English meaning ‘word’ means the written word of God, were the Greek word Rhema means the spoken word of God. This is why when we say the “the word of God” most Christians think “Bible”. The problem with that is it’s not exactly true. The Bible contains words that God has spoken. It also contains a lot of words He didn’t speak. When we examine the scripture we find the Greek word ‘Logos’ shows up throughout the New Testament. If we want to get a sense of what it means, it would be wise to laydown our own definition and let the Scripture show us. This would be especially true for those who believe in the authority of scripture as I do.

John 12:47-48 (NKJV)
47 And if anyone hears My words (rhematon) and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words (rhemata), has that which judges him—the word (logos) that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.

John 14:24 (NKJV)
He who does not love Me does not keep My words (logous); and the word (logos) which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.

John 14:23-24 (NKJV)
23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My (logon) word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My (logous) words; and the (logos) word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.
John 12:46 (NKJV)
46I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.
John 14:6(NKJV)
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 8:31-32 (NKJV)
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My (logo) word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

2 Corinthians 7:10  NIV
Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

It’s when we receive truth from heaven that we are willing to agree with, even if it means we have been wrong, we then experience the LIFE that God’s truth works in us.

John 8:32  (NIV)
And you shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
