Part 1: Trusted Steward

Trusted Steward

Date: 05 June 2022

Speaker: Sean Cleary

It’s important that we understand the responsibility we have. We have been given an amazing opportunity to be SONS and DAUGHTERS. Do we give it the weight that it deserves without going to an unhealthy mindset of working as a servant?

MATTHEW 24:36-49

MATTHEW 25 –

TEN VIRGINS

The Sheep and the Goats

46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

From a 50 thousand foot view, Jesus is saying, “I’m coming back, so be ready!”

  1. Don’t be like the servant who didn’t really think he would get caught and ignored his responsibilities and did whatever he wanted.
  2. Don’t be childish and disregard what is needed to keep your light shining because you didn’t think it’s important.
  3. Don’t be like the steward who was entrusted with something valuable and failed to understand what was being asked of him.
  4. Don’t think you can ignore the ones Jesus values because they don’t seem important and expect to be rewarded.

WHAT IS THE ANSWER? WHAT SHOULD I DO? HOW SHOULD I APPROCH THIS?

  1. Make up your mind, “I am a servant, I am responsible for how I serve and treat other servants.
  2. I’ve got to be child-like, but not childish. Do what needs to be done in my relationship with God.
  3. God is giving me valuable things to steward. I will learn to steward well!
  4. Loving God includes loving His children. My resources are not just for me.

Luke 16:8-12 NIV

1 Peter 4:8-10  NIV

What did Jesus do when making ‘friends’? He loved deeply, He forgave their debt! Every chance He had, with ‘grace’, served people so they would be reconciled back to God.

Can you be trusted with a little? Can you be honest? Can you handle resources? Are you ready to steward ‘True Riches’? Have you been trustworthy with someone else’s property?

What is SUCCESS for a steward?

Success is when what we are stewarding becomes FRUITFUL, INCREASES, or is COMPLETED.
