Part 1: Whose Rules Are You Playing By
Whose Rules are You Playing By?
Date: 06 Sept 2020
Speaker: Duane Lowe
All Conflict is a direct result lost identity.
Conflict always follows those who get their identity from a particular group of people or piece of ground.
(TPT) John 8:37
Identity defined:
- For those who believe God is the sole provider of identity in us, there is a universal agreement that we are born with a sense of identity.
- However, when we refuse to include God in our identity, we get our identity from cultural influences and traumatic experiences. Without God in the equation, we develop coping mechanisms that block us from our true identity.
- Any identity without God involved is always self-promoting and self-protecting. When we do this, we can’t experience true freedom.
Maturity and True-Identity always merge!
There are 3 False Identities are at work in humanity and our world. Interesting enough, we get these identities from external sources:
- What we do
(TPT) Matthew 4:1
- What people think about us
- What we have
Receiving “The Promise” of the Father. Jesus convinces us that we’re all gifted uniquely.
- Jesus gives us the confidence and hope that we have the capacity to live an original full life!
Each of us will say things that no one else will ever think or say the way we say it from our true identity.
All rules have a voice and can appear to be God’s voice but are most of the time in complete opposition to God’s voice and will.
Whose Rules are you Playing By?
(TPT) John 14:23
The plan of redemption has everything to do with identity. Our return to our rightful place as children of God, empowered with dominion and authority to represent our Father.
What are the rules?
- This is not what the rule looks like:
-
- Seeing ourselves in a powerless negative manner…
- People aren’t the enemy…
- I see others from my personal perception…
- I bring judgment by cramming the letter down your throat
- This is what the rule looks like:
- Seeing what is true about yourself…
- What is true about others…
- I need to know something about others that I don’t know…
- I bring Life through righteous judgment through the Spirit…
