The Pattern of Surrender

by | Apr 1, 2026

Surrender follows a divine pattern. First, there is singleness with God—He becomes our source, our first love, and our full devotion. Then surrender expresses itself in covenant relationships, where our love for others reflects our honor for Him. Finally, faith becomes the foundation, transforming surrender from performance into living relationship.

The rich young ruler stands as a warning: he walked away from Jesus not because he lacked opportunity, but because he lacked surrender. He chose possessions over presence, security over obedience, and understanding over trust.

This reveals a sobering truth: our attitude toward God determines our alignment with Him. If we require understanding before obedience, we will delay and drift. But if we choose trust first, we will walk in Life.

There is no neutral ground. At every moment, we are either being joined or separated—walking by faith or by sight—advancing the Kingdom of God or another. Surrender is the attitude that keeps us joined to Him.
