The Source of Unconditional Love

by | Mar 5, 2026

My unconditional love for God is directly tied to my commitment to Him as a son. However, the moment I begin placing conditions on God, I will inevitably begin placing conditions on others. When I find myself having a problem with someone, it often reveals bad fruit in my own heart—fruit that God cannot and will not accept in a relationship with Him. This is why repentance is key for our freedom; not that I’m sorry but on the contrary, I’m consciously choosing to change the way I think to entertain His voice, His thoughts and His Spirit leading!

When we look closely at the Genesis account involving God, Adam His son, Eve His daughter, the tree, and the serpent, we see a clear contrast between unconditional love and conditional love.

  • Conditional love is the bad fruit produced by the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
  • Conditional love reveals that we have exchanged Life for death, chosen mammon over Christ, and traded dependence on God for independence from Him.
  • Conditional love has no place in the relationship between God and man.

Unconditional love, however, flows from remaining in Christ as our source. The moment we move away from Him as our source, conditions begin to replace covenant, manipulation for control and the fruit of death begins to appear.

When the serpent questioned God’s intentions toward Adam—subtly casting doubt on God’s love and the fellowship they shared—it was an attack on Adam’s faith in his identity as a son of God. The moment Adam began questioning God, he inevitably began questioning his own identity as a son. Division flooded his heart, and his passion for God and for His daughter began to diminish.

Both Adam and Eve lost confidence in their identity as God’s son and daughter. Instead of humbly repenting, they began blaming Him for their failure to live up to their identity in Him, using blame as a way to justify their disobedience.

Being delivered from blaming God is one of the very reasons Jesus gave His life. Through His sacrifice, He demonstrated unconditional love to each of us—even though we were completely undeserving.

Let the miracle of this revelation take hold of your heart and awaken faith within you. It works. Trust Him. He is faithful. He sees you and He wants to commune with you now!
